I could really use some advice from y'all.

My hubby and I have a difference of opinion when it comes to the floors in our home. We have a very neutral carpet color throughout and coordinating tile floors in the kitchen, entry, utility room and both baths. That was what we agreed we wanted and liked 4 years ago when we bought the house, but now he's saying he wants to rip out all the carpet and install hardwood floors (or that laminate-like stuff that snaps into itself). The thing is, I really prefer carpet because I walk around in socks most of the time and already risk sliding around on the tile as it is.

What do you think? Should we stick with carpet or should I give in and let him do wood?

I have carpet in my family room and hardwood in the kitchen. I would go with your husbands idea, but then you can decorate it up with throw rugs or a nice braded rug for the middle of the room.

I think that if you plan on selling at all, hardwood will get you more on the value of your house.

I would gp with a change and get the hardwood or laminate flooring. You can then use lots of rugs in defined areas, and you can choose a multitude of designs and colours to suit the rest of your decor.

I think you can go for a change. Since you had used the carpet type for four years I guess it is time for change.

Keep the carpet until the kids have ruined it. When it's time to replace it, then go with the wood.

ALSO maybe you can reach a compromise, he can have his wood floors, but he has to install underfloor heat to keep the tootsies nice and toasty.
