Electrics are the one thing I always get someone in to do as I am always worried about them, plumbing I can do but bt wiring i find hard. Do you agree or do you do it yourself?

I am not an electrician, but I am an electrical engineer. When it comes to wiring, it's DIY for me. My advice on electrical DIY is: if you are not in any of this trade/profession, let the experts do it. Electricity should be treated with respect--an attitude that, in my opinion, comes fully only when you are in the said trade/profession. Electricity, like any force of nature, knows no law but its own. Treat electricity as ALWAYS lethal--it takes only a few volts to send few milliamps of current through a wet human body to kill. Make a wrong move--and it will show no mercy...it always executes Ohm's law.

Electric jobs are very easy to do when compared with other DIY jobs. You just have to understand a few basic principles and the rest will depend upon your mind and skills.

My husband will do the electric work himself. He isn't an electrician by any means. When we were first married he bought the Readers Digest book that tells how to fix everything. He new how to do nothing, but from the help of that book, he now does everything.
