Do any of you use alternative sources for electricity in your house?
I am thinking wind-generated energy or solar energy.
Anybody?

We have solar energy panels at our ski cottage in the mountain as there is no regular electricity available there.

We are currently installing solar power panels on our roof tops and it is going to help in conserving little amount of money in our electricity bill.

With the high cost of energy from the grid, I think everybody is set into thinking of having for his own an alternative source. You could compile a list of these alternatives. Windpower is out of the list since a humble system only generates a few watts even in windy areas. A small-engine generator set-up is likewise uneconomical; it is only good as a standby system. We can pin our hope that research on solar cells would soon make solar power a very economical alternative. Personally, I believe this is the right direction; it would be a matter of time that a household could obtain electrical energy directly from the sun. In the meantime, the grid, which generates electrical energy from fossil fuel, is the most economical source.
