I would like to get a wooden cupboard made in our bathroom. What type of wood is the best for a bathroom environment?

How about Teak?

Well that might be a little expensive, but any really hard wood that grows in a moisture rich environment should stand up to bathroom moisture without warping.

Right?

Thank you Dianna for your reply. I was also thinking about teak wood but its so expensive right now that I am hoping that there is a cheaper alternative.

The best choice for you is the water resistant hardwood. Since it is not much costly and it is much good for use in bathroom when compared with teak since it is much costly and not water resistant.

What about a water resistant composite with a teak veneer?

You could save money but still have that rich, teak look in the bathroom!

Thats a pretty good idea Diana... water resistant composite with a teak veneer.. I will definitely look into that. Maybe my local DIY store has some ideas.

As long as it is designed for bathrooms then it should be fine you will find it will rot if it isnt designed to be in there.

Just be sure that you treat the wood to seal it and you'll be fine. I have a PINE cabinet in my washroom and it's still lovely after 30 years.

I try not to punish mine any of them will fit here because its so hard to over come the negative. I find if I keep them focused on the good stuff then there isnt time for them to get into trouble anyway.
