They claim that toilets that give you the option to choose from two different flushes will help in reducing the amount of water used and helps in conserving water.

Does any of you know about how this system works to conserve water, I am a little confused about it.

I have been using one for many years. You basically have two buttons on your toilet. One releases more water then the other one. You choose one depending what you did on the toilet. If you took a leak then you obviously require less water to flush the toilet bowl.

My brother-in-law has one of these toilets, but I've never heard anybody else talk about them before.

I guess it's a solid premise, but I don't get the impression that they're widely used.

I know that many homes in California for example have one due to their constant water shortage.

Ive got one of those but to be honest I press both buttons as I find one just wont do as good a job!

That kind of defeats the whole purpose behind the idea and trying to save water consumption.
