My hubby is a DIY guy. And when he does any plumbing, he takes out his toolbox. These are the basic tools in that box that I think EVERYONE should have:

01. Pipe wrenches
02. Adjustable wrench
03. Rib-joint pliers
04. Screwdrivers
05. Measuring tape
06. Pipe cutter
07. Drain-clearing tools

Anyone else can add to this list?

Tongue and groove pliers, which are a staple of most all tools boxes are very commonly used. However most plumbers will utilize water pump pliers, which are jawed.

For me, that's quite a long list for a DIY plumber. Add a couple of tools and one could go professional. Assuming one always guns for quality, tools could cost a fortune.
