We are planning to put some tiles in our living room. What do you think will be the best color combination? The color of our house and walls is white. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Well you will want to take in consideration the other colors you have going on in the living room. What color is your furniture and window coverings? You want to find something that will complement your current colors as well as still fit nicely if you were to change up your color scheme.

I'd first make a list of what your favorite colors are along with the colors of your furniture and post it here and then I bet we could come up with a few ideas.

When we did our floors several years ago I had a lot of burgundy colors in my furniture and decorations so we went with a beige/tanish tile with bits of a sage color sprinkled through-out the tiles as well and it worked great. Even when I switched my color scheme to a lot of deeper earth browns.

2 shades for sure. Are you tiling the floor? I am not crazy about tile in living rooms- I like rugs (warm on your feet).

I agree what is the color or theme in the living room? Furniture? Border? Try to pick a shade that goes with these. I love the beige look though for the second color - or tan.

You can use pink colored tiles or shade textured tiles to make your house more attractive. Most of the people go with their own choice of color and it entirely depends on you.

Personally I love creme colored tiles and I think that it would go rather well with your white walls.

I love tiles they are so easy to clean and nice in the summer, as for colours you have to look around and see what other colours you have in the room?

We did the beige/tan colored tiles in our living room because as they are neutral, they go with just about anything. Now, we can change the decor and not have to worry too much about clashing color combinations.:)

Good luck and I hope you love your finished product.:)

I would go for something neutral, that way the tiles will match any decor and furnishings.

I bought a really old house and the tiles are a red colour with beige and white in them. I am going to try post a picture because they really are not as bad as they sound. All we can get to match them is creams and brown shades.

These suggestions on the appropriate color/s are alright. But how about the tile size? Tile color should be considered with tile size. I assume your choice of size is 2 ft x 2 ft, or larger.

I think I would add color to my walls first instead of just going with white. Then take a sample of your wall color in and show the guys at the tile store. They have so many samples and ideas there that it is great to use as a resorce.

I would stick with a neutral for the tile and then you can sauce it up with throw rugs, pillows and some bold choices for the wall paint. It's pretty easy to repaint your walls or to buy a few throw pillows, but re-tiling your floor is not something you want to do every few years.
