I really hate the color of our bathtub, and it has a couple of chips in the finish.
I would like to get a totally new tub but can afford it.
How hard is it to refinish a tub in another color, while it remains in place?

What a good idea. I don't know the answer--never tried it. I would think you could just buy paint and paint it. I'm sure they would have paint for bath tubs. What is your bathtub made out of?

I could be wrong, but I think that the bath needs to be removed and dipped in the paint by a professional company to get a good smooth and quality finish. By the time you have sorted it out, it would probably work out cheaper and less hassle for you to buy a new bath.

I believe that in the hotel industry many hotel owners use a special type of varnish which will get rid of the chips and cracks.

I guess it may be best to call around to a few hotel supply stores to see if they have any ideas.
It occurred to me that Home Depot carries spray on appliance paint. They may have what I need.

I would go to HOme Depot and see what they carry to fix this problem. It is a great idea to save on your expense.

Hi Dianna,
Please let me know if you are able to find a solution. Otherwise I will check with some friends of mine over at Holiday Inn.

I had done this before and it is easy. Refinishing a bathtub typically takes between 3 to 4 hours depending on the condition of the tub.
