I want to create a nice spot for our barbecue and have seen these lavish outdoor kitchens on HGTV. Since we aren't wealthy, we need to pare down some of our ideas and need some tips for buying inexpensive bricks.
Are there places that have "reject bricks"? If so, we could make a barbecue surround using the bricks as accents.
Has anyone heard of this?
I have seen similar designs on some properties. It does wonders for boosting appearances and equity.

Yeah, such bricks adds beauty and attractiveness of the place. They can also be used in pathways, ground cover, decorative soil covering for planter pots.
I found a site which deals with business of such rejected bricks on a wholesale level. The link for the site is

How about at a store like "Mr. Second's" or some other discount store. We have a Bargain Outlet store that sells all kinds of things - outdoor and indoor (seconds on wood and bricks too).
I would google something like this in your area.

There are places that sell what I would call reject bricks. The ones that are not molded correctly or are slightly mis-shaped. You could also try reclaimation yards, which would be a better option, and there are plenty of them about.

What a beautiful area you will have made when it is all done. We have a store in our area that sells seconds and then if you sign up for their credit card you get an additional amount off. Check you surrounding towns for something like that.

We have a large store near our house which sells bricks and other materials which were leftovers from projects and developments. Its much cheaper to buy it there then at a regular store.

Well this fits neatly into my plans for spring!
I think I can talk the hubby into a new grill to go with the new "kitchenette"!
Thanks!

We have one outside near our pool and we also have a gazebo. It really is a wonderful addition to your house.
Inexpensive and pared down bricks can provide the basis for some amazing work. Remember, creativity can go a LONG way.

I absolutely agree with you. If you are smart and inventive then you can make something nice with very little money.
