Sand- look a like?

My daughters room is a beach room. The top of the walls are painted in blue for the ocean- with stenciled dolphins, fish, real seashells, and starfish.

The bottom is tan like sand- She now wants to make it feel like sand- so rough-ish. Anyone know how we can do this? Is there something we can buy to make it look and feel like sand. We have a lot of sand from the beach trip over the summer. I was thinking of trying to glue some on to the wall?

Wow! It sounds lovely and I really have no idea on the sand. The glue may work. Are you thinking of mixing some sand in with glue and painting it on? I'm wondering if you would have to seal it with something.

I don't know... I never thought about mixing it and painting it on- I just thought about somehow adding glue to make it stick--- Probably should have put plastic down on the floor (new rug now) and then painted and tossed some sand here and there...

Paint the wall then literally just throw handfuls of sand onto the wall and varnish over it when it is dry.

I was thinking that! We already painted the walls and then put down new carpet-- Sounds like a job for nicer weather- Cover the carpet in plastic and paint again!

Her room sounds awesome! I would take some of the paint and mix the sand right in and then paint the wall. This should work.
